Company Description

Vattenfall is one of Europe's largest producers and retailers of electricity and heat. Our main markets are Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. Within the Vattenfall Group, there are approximately 20,000 employees. We have electrified industries, delivered energy to homes, and transformed lives through innovation for over a hundred years. We now want to make it possible to live fossil-free and we are driving the transition to a sustainable energy system.

About the Role

Do you want to work on technically advanced projects and contribute to a fossil-free future? Are you interested in leading the effort to find the best technical solutions in our projects?

To meet future needs, Vattenfall is investing heavily in our heating facilities. We are now looking for an Engineering Manager who wants to help drive the green transition with us.

Asset Development is responsible for developing and implementing various types of projects in heat production, both new construction and existing facilities – using both conventional technology and new innovative solutions. Engineering is part of Asset Development, where we deliver projects in different phases together with highly qualified engineers from various disciplines, and are responsible for driving the technical part of the projects from development to implementation.

A selected project team leads the work of developing and implementing the projects, as well as coordinating installation, commissioning, and handover of the new facilities to future operating organizations, in close collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

The Engineering department also contributes with scheduling, investment calculations, and quality management.

Your Role as Engineering Manager

As Engineering Manager, you lead the technical work within the project. You build and motivate your engineering team and are an important partner to the project manager and the rest of the project group.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the engineering team in the project.
  • Plan and follow up on activities in the project's various phases.
  • Ensure that technical requirements are met, with a particular focus on interface management and safety in design.
  • Develop key deliverables together with the team, such as specifications, feasibility studies, design documents, and tender documents.
  • Participate in project meetings, negotiations, and evaluation of bids.
  • Ensure quality throughout the project – from planning to commissioning.
  • Share knowledge and experiences within the team and organization.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in mechanical, energy, or process engineering.
  • At least five years of experience in planning and technical project management where you have led multidisciplinary teams. You have good knowledge of processes in heat production and how they interact with district heating networks.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

As a person, you have good leadership skills and an analytical ability that helps you create structure – both for yourself and for your team. You are self-driven, proactive, and have a clear focus on health, safety, and security in design.
